Diwali - The Harbinger of Joy, Light and Goodness

The festival of lights, Diwali was celebrated with an enormous gusto in the Sophian Campus. The students arrived the school premises in pure festive spirit. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ‘diyas’ followed by a prayer service and a prayer dance. The students were then apprised with the significance of Diwali. Three students attired as Lord Ganesh, Goddess Lakshmi and Narad Muni elucidated the importance of Diwali. The skit performed by the primary students, conveying the true meaning of the festival, imparted the message of how actually one should celebrate a clean and green Diwali, sharing our plenty with the less fortunate ones. The lively dance presentations by the primary and the secondary students added to the conviviality. Sister Principal’s enlightened words on the occasion proved to be a cherry on the cake. Diyas were presented to Sister Principal to be distributed to the less privileged. The celebration concluded with the ‘Aarti’ performed by the entire Sophian Familis, with lit diyas in ‘thaalis’. Our dear Sister Principal, Sr. Gail, in true secular spirit joined the aarti, setting an example that a true Indian is secular at heart.
